Questions and Answers
Q.
I tried to access "Tomorrow's Newspaper Today," but my User
Name and Password weren't accepted. How can I view the Online Newspaper?
A.
The most likely reason these entries weren't accepted is
that you did not use the correct case for your CSI User ID, which should be
entered using all CAPITAL letters in the "User Name" box. Please try again,
remembering to use the required case and to release the Caps Lock button when
typing your Customer Number in the "Password" box. Another possibility is that
you did not enter the correct ID or number. To verify your CSI User ID and
Customer Number, check the "Account" tab of the "General Settings" screen from
the UA "Options" menu.
Q.
I tried to view the Online Newspaper, but instead got a
message saying something about "Unauthorized." How do I get authorization to
view the Online Newspaper?
A.
All Unfair Advantage users, including trial users, are authorized to view the
Online Newspaper - at no charge for the time being. This error message results
from an improperly set option in Internet Explorer. Follow these steps to
correct it:
1) When you see the error message saying "HTTP1.1 401 Unauthorized," click the
"Tools" menu at the top of your screen. 2) From the pull-down Tools menu, click
"Internet Options." 3) Click the "Security" tab, and then, on the "Security"
screen, click the [Custom Level.] button. 4) Scroll down to the "User
Authentication - Logon" selection near the bottom of the list. You'll see that
"Anonymous logon" has been selected, which is the cause of your problem. Select
the "Prompt for User Name and Password" option instead. 5) Click OK as
necessary to exit the Tools area. The error message will redisplay. 6) Click
the "Refresh" icon on your Internet Explorer toolbar or press<F5>. The
"Enter Network Password" screen will display, where you can type your CSI User
ID and Password as described above.
These instructions (complete with graphic displays) are
repeated on the CSI website. Reach them by clicking "Troubleshooting" near the
bottom of the standard "News Headlines" screen.
Q.
I have discovered a discrepancy between the exchange's quotes
and CSI's quotes for the CBT's Ten-Year Treasury Notes (TY) and Five-Year
Treasury Notes (FV). As I understand it, both of these products are traded in
32nds and halves of 32nds, but CSI quotes them in 64ths. This convention
requires additional computations to convert an Unfair Advantage quote to the
exchange's preferred presentation, which gives me trouble with my analysis. Can
you suggest a remedy?
A.
The CSI conversion factor of -4 does, indeed, indicate that
these markets are quoted in 64ths, despite the exchange's convention of using
32nds and halves of 32nds. Our simpler convention was adopted in order to
remain compatible with our own QuickTrieve and with Omega's TradeStation and
Reuters' MetaStock software. We adopted this convention for the sake of our
customers who use these popular analysis products.
Since this convention is inconvenient for you, we have
decided to introduce two new data series that will present trades in the manner
preferred by both you and the exchange. This change will not require a new UA
release. You'll find the new Ten-Year Treasury Note data (complete with
history) as CSI number 2339, symbol TY3; the new Five-Year Treasury Notes are
CSI number 2340, symbol FV3.
